Sandeep Lamichhane was born in Syangja district and moved to India at an early age due to his father’s work. His father’s name is Chandar Narayan Lamichhane, and his mother, Kopila Devi, is a housewife. Sandeep’s father was an employee in Indian Railway.
He has an elder sister, Indu Lamichhane, and an elder brother, Mohan Lamichhane. Sandeep is the youngest in his family. His elder brother is also an employee of Indian Railways at present. Sandeep Lamichhane is unmarried now, and we do not have more information about his girlfriend.

Early life and career
Sandeep Lamichhane spent his childhood in India, where he got to watch world-class cricketers. His idols were Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne. At the age of nine, Sandeep moved to Chitwan, Nepal, and started training at the Chitwan Cricket Academy, which is run by former Nepali cricket captain Raju Khadka.
He was first spotted at the age of 14 by then Nepali Cricket Coach Pubudu Dasayanake, and soon after, he was selected to play for the Under-19 team of Nepal. Lamichhane impressed everyone with his leg-spin and became a regular in the Nepal national cricket team.
International Career
Sandeep Lamichhane made his unofficial international debut for Nepal in November 2015, at the age of 15, against a touring MCC squad. Lamichhane dismissed Hong Kong wicketkeeper Scott McKechnie twice, then Scott recruited the young leg spinner for the Kowloon Cantons at the inaugural Hong Kong T20 Blitz in May 2016.
A twist in his life, as former Australian Captain Michael Clarke observed enough of his talent to invite Lamichhane to Sydney to play club cricket under Clarke’s watchful eye.
Sandeep made his international debut in Bangladesh, 2016 Under-19 World Cup. Five wickets against Ireland in a single match made him Nepal’s leading wicket taker with 14 wickets in six games in 2016 Under-19 World Cup.
Sandeep Lamichhane made his senior debut in February 2018 against Namibia in the WCL Championship and was regular in a Nepali National Cricket team afterwards He was one of the best performers for Nepal in the tournament.

IPL Career
In 2018, Sandeep Lamichhane became the first Nepalese player to be picked in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils (now the Delhi Capitals). At that time Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi also commented that the relationship between Nepal and India had been strengthened by this IPL signing.
Sandeep played his first IPL match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore and impressed everyone with his bowling, picking up the wicket of Parthiv Patel.
T20 Franchise Cricket
Sandeep Lamichhane has also played in other T20 leagues around the world, including the Caribbean Premier League, the Pakistan Super League, the Bangladesh Premier League, and the Big Bash League in Australia.

Rape Allegations
On September 6, 2022, a 17-year-old girl filed a police complaint accusing Lamichhane of raping her in a hotel room in Kathmandu on the night of August 21, 2022. The police said in a statement that video evidence from the hotel showed Lamichhane staying with the girl.
The Kathmandu District Court authorized Lamichhane’s arrest for further investigation on September 8.
Sandeep Lamichhane withdrew from the Caribbean Premier League shortly after the news of his rape allegations broke. But he denied any wrongdoing.
As a result, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Nepal’s cricket governing body, suspended Lamichhane from the national team. Lamichhane was issued a diffusion notice by Nepalese police via Interpol. Lamichhane was added to the Interpol police fugitive list as a result of the notice.
On October 6, 2022, Lamichhane surrendered to Nepali police and was taken to the Gaushala jail in Kathmandu.
Later, the Kathmandu District Court sent Lamichhane to the Central Jail Sundhara for judicial custody while it awaited the outcome of the case.
However, Lamichhane, who was charged with raping a minor, was released after posting a Rs2 million bail set by the Patan High Court.
